This Titanium
5000 gallon Coil Jacketed Reactor was supplied to a leading European
chemical company. Unalloyed grade 2 Titanium was selected for
its resistance to the process fluid in the presence of weak HCl.
The vessel
is 96" ID x 135" T-T length, and has a nominal shell thickness
of 0.375", heads 0.500", and weighs approximately 5400 pounds.
The vessel is designed to the Stoomwezen Code, but also meets
the requirements of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code,
Division 1, for 75 psi at 250ºF. The jacket is designed for
75psi at 200ºF.
Nozzles for
sight and light glasses, and a top mounted agitator are provided.

The coil jacket
was fabricated by forming half round sections from 0.125" sheet,
then forming them to conform to the outside of the vessel.
